Work with nonprofit organizations, companies and academic institutions to help increase inclusivity and accessibility for the disabled community; special focus on blind and low vision individuals. Evaluate the accessibility of an organization’s programs, environments, services, products and devices. Provide assistance in developing and implementing strategies to improve accessibility and inclusivity. Conduct experiential workshops with an organization’s staff to increase understanding of disability and visual impairments

August 2021- August 2023 Exhibition Research Assistant, Exhibition Development, The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, Los Angeles, CA

Contributes exhibition-related research on expedition sponsors and taxonomic data, contacts external institutions for archival information on behalf of the museum, conducts research through online newspaper archives taxonomic databases, and serves as a mentor for incoming Getty Marrow interns. Assists with various tasks as needed, including crediting source lines, locating images, tracking down historical documents for exhibition content and marketing purposes, facilitating meetings with external contributors etc. Provided feedback on assistive technology for exhibitions and conducts IDEA workshops for the museum’s exhibition development and design team.

Wrote exhibit overviews and project proposals, created developer and content briefs, and contributed to the development of label copy and exhibit scripts. Conducted internal and external archival research for the museum’s upcoming PST exhibition, synthesized historical and taxonomic information into a thousand-page document, assisted with the digitization of museum archives, and assisted processing archivist with weekly oral history interviews. Contributed to tracking/reporting on project schedules, milestones and deadlines. Participated in departmental brainstorming sessions, content brief meetings and info-sessions with potential project participants. Researched IDEA topics for the Senior Vice President of Exhibitions and presented findings.

Conducted historical, archival and object-based research, contacted/communicated with museum professionals and historians regarding Los Angeles/Mexican American history, and led oral history interviews with local community leaders with personal ties and direct knowledge of project ephemera and exhibition objects. Incorporated oral and archival research into new exhibition scripts and label copy, virtual and on-site educational programs, developed CA standards-based unit curriculums, lesson plans, and classroom reading lists and created experiential workshops for visiting families and students. Sourced digital and physical objects and documents for the museum's permanent exhibitions. Created and developed a social media campaign to engage museum patrons during the height of the pandemic.

Co-authored a chapter in Fabricating Wilderness: A Century of Dioramas at the Natural History Museum focusing on the history of NHM’s diorama program.

2024 Publication: Curating Conservation: How Museum Collections Foster Scientific Discovery and Preserve Biodiversity, Environmental History Now

Submitted a publication exploring the integral role of museum collections in advancing scientific knowledge and promoting biodiversity conservation, highlighting how these curated treasures serve as a bridge between the past and future of our natural world.

2023 Presentation: Unnatural Menageries: Natural History Museums, Specimen Collections and Mid-Century Expeditions, California State University, Long Beach, Long Beach CA

Presented a research project on the history of the Natural History Museum’s specimen collections, their importance to scientific research and conservation efforts, and the influence of museum patrons during the mid-twentieth century. (Paper was nominated to represent California State Long Beach in a state-wide scholarship and research competition, summer 2023)

Presented a project analyzing the role of women on ecological expeditions during the mid-twentieth century and highlighting the contributions they made to various scientific fields.

2023 Presentation: Latina Connection Conference- Latinas in Academic Institutions and Museums, California State University, Long Beach, Long Beach CA

Presented a project focusing on the intersections of race, class, disability and gender in academic institutions. Led and facilitated a group discussion on IDEA initiatives and their effects on minority groups.
